"I am not down-putting anyone." Easy, and with her CHOICE OF THREE GRADING SYSTEMS (including one where the final counts for 80% of your grade), it's almost impossible to fail her class. Just do the homework.
SUPER EASY. All the problems are from either the HW, practice midterms/finals, etc. Just get help from CLAS if you feel like you need it. It's helpful. I promise you'll ace it with no problem.
Study the examples she goes over during lecture and the questions on the quizes. They'll most likely be on the midterms and final.
Overall excellent teacher!!!! Her lectures are great! She has a lot of patience. I just felt like the tests were an exercise in memorization.
I took AP calc AB in high school - hardest thing in my life - math has always been hard for me. But Birge's class is SO SO EASY, even for me. so many STUPID PPL IN THE CLASS TOO! Study half day each test - you will ace it - I got A- unfortunately though b/c I didn't really study for final. SO MAD!
It would help if she spoke English. Like, at all.
If you do the work and study, the class is easy. She uses three grading schemes to help you get the best grade you can, even if you blow a major exam. Even if you aren't a math person, she makes it fun.
"Moreover..." ... loved the teacher, hated the class... but she will definitely keep you entertained..
Birge rocks my world. Her leather pants and crazy german hair styling will keep you on tilt for the whole quarter.
I practically failed calculus in high school, but I got an A+ in her class, no joke. She's a great teacher. She gives reasonable homework assignments and plenty of time to do them. Plus her tests are at the same difficulty level as the homework. You'll be lucky if you get this teacher!
Excellent professor. Always willing to help a student after class and in office hours. Even if math is difficult for you this class shouldn't be too difficult.

Birge is the best...she made me laugh so much, she's an intense little German lady.
i never really understood math in high school, but zimmerman is an excellent teacher. she honestly cares about how her students do, and she's quite helpful and answers questions even during the lecture. plus homework is optional. and her somewhat bad english is hilarious. "are you all alongside?!"

She is wonderful!!! Best math professor I've had at UCSB. She really cares that you do well in her class, so she's always open to questions and available to help at office hours. Explanations are great, always willing to give more if necessary.
good but 'a little' excitable and selfish.
She is very encouraging and really wants students to succeed in the class. Of course, the one piece of advice i can give you is to do the hw for this class. You'll regret it on the 2nd midterm and the final if you don't. Great math prof
Birge is a lovely little lady who wants you to be just as good at Math 8 as she is. She moves quickly through lecture but gives plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions, and spends a lot of time answering them if there are any. Great prof.
