Quite cute, very witty, not strict.
Chandler took what could have been a very dry class and made it as enjoyable as possible. The subject matter also happens to be extremely useful not just for philosophy majors, but for anyone who wishes to develop a more critical analysis of arguments. He's also a funny guy.
It sounds like Chandler didn't do so great with Phil 4, but let me tell you Phil 3 with this guy was AMAZING. Firstly, the class is quite easy, just know the concepts. Chandler is interesting and funny and you don't have to take notes. I've gotten A's on everything and all I've done is done the homework. Also, his lectures are online! Yay!
He's funny. :)
philosophy 3 isn't as easy as it seems, but its still interesting and Chandler is pretty cool :)
Lectures had a lot of text but were often humorous and got the message across clearly. Anyone who says that his slides had too much on them clearly needs to learn how to take better and more concise notes. Did a good job illustrating points and made what could have been a very boring class an enjoyable one.
He did the best he could. The course is just not interesting. You NEED to bring a laptop in order to catch all of the notes &if you don't want your hand to fall off. I never read any of the books, but got a B+. Go to lecture, meet your TA & study hard for the final and you will do fine. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!!!!
Worst class at UCSB. If you don't like taking notes do not take this class. He puts so much on his lecture slides it looks like a novel. I thought my arm was going to fall off by the end of a 50 minute class. Also the topics are boring, unless you are interested in philosophy. Papers are graded very hard. Final took up a full blue book of essays.
John was a great TA. He was always willing to help, and made everything easier to understand. He was a fair grader and did his best to make sure his students did well in the class, and he's a fun guy in general.
i love him.. he's my favorite TA ever
