She treats students as if they are in elementary school, the work load is not too bad. But the logs are graded harshly. She can't even answer questions regarding logs because she doesn't grade them! I would never take her again. SOC is my major and I still love the subject, but she somehow mananges to ruin this class with her negative attitude.

Not helpful at all. The class is good because she barely talks, she just plays a movie for class and every week there is a 2 pg log due about the movie and readings. The grading is very unfair and the TA grades all the work. Bielby never looks over the work, she is very rude and should probably not be getting paid for being a professor since she doesn't do anything. Even when you put time a energy into the logs the TA will still find something wrong. Readings are 100+ PGs a week. Stay away!!!

Prof Bielby is great! Obviously whoever gave her a 1 probably did not get into her class, which is understandable since everyone in the soc department wants to get in. (For a reason) Great lectures, easy readings, papers, highly recommended for Soc majors

Dr. Bielby is a good teacher. The class is interesting although there is too much reading material. She doesn't give exams but has you write reading logs and a term paper. Her classes in general are very good. Highly recommend!

Amazing professor! She is so passionate and soooo helpful! Inspiring and dedicated to her students. I STRONGLY recomend taking any of her classes! Its a great experience!

She's a good professor for this class because she lectures for a small bit, but then she shows movies. The logs are short and they are due every week. The reading is not hard. My only complaint is that she would sometimes make us stay about 10-15 minutes over the allotted time for the class. The TA was cute though, lol.
