GEOG5 with this professor was online with 5 assignments and 2 exams: 1 midterm and 1 final. I have to say that he is hands down the most unassuming person I've encountered. Our final class was a short inspirational speech in which he revealed he is a true warrior. He encouraged us, above all, to believe in ourselves and to be bold and curious.
Definitely knows his stuff
He is a knowledgable and inspirational professor. He always introduces interesting case studies in class. The class is not American centered. Rather, Professor Lopez-Carr offered us a global view to examine issues on population.
This class was amazing. I took this class to see if I wanted to pursue a Masters in geography and this class confirmed my choice. Prof Carr is excellent and makes the class fun. He also has experience working with the UN which gives him deep insight into population issues. I really enjoyed this class and would recommend to all.
GEOG 141A (Population Geography) .... Carr is a very respectable professor (he has worked with the UN and IPCC). He is enthusiastic about the subject, is really good at starting class discussions, and is a fair grader. His TA, Lumari, is also great and is very helpful.
Regional Geography of Latin America was a great class. Professor Carr made the lectures very interactive and really encouraged class participation. He uses a lot of things from lecture in his tests so I would recommend attending all the lectures but they are well worth it. I recommend this class to anyone who is interested in geography
Latin America was somewhat hard to learn because there's a lot to cover but Prof. Carr did a really good job. I think the best part is he doesn't just give you multiple choice. He gives you questions that makes you think. His class is somewhat hard but I think it's a good experience.
Prof Carr's intentions are good, but the grading reflects unattainable expectations. lectures are fun enough but tests are hard. paper is graded unfairly.
I think DCARR is hot.
Good teacher, like Indiana Jones but looks like Van Wilder
Cool professor, however sometimes you don't really know what he's talking about or what the point is. Pretty fair when it comes to tests and grading.
Good overview class. Carr is clearly very interested in the subject. He encourages comments and questions.
Of all professors in the geography department, he is best able to integrate his exceptional knowledge with the concepts and processes necessary for the class. If you have any interest in global demographic issues, you must take this class.
