Not a bad class. Don't bother showing up, just reread and know the textbook, cause all of the material is in there. Get a good TA.
she flips through her powerpoints too fast. She tries to get too much info in a short period of time making what she say very unclear. But she is a very nice lady.
Nicest lady ever...she really cares about her student and is not stuck up at ALL about her education like the previous reviewer said. She will call your BS if you aren't working, and she can be disorganized, but she really is an intelligent and caring person.
I'm by not a history major, and I can't say I was happy with the work load of the class (lots of reading, challenging essays), but somehow I really enjoyed Plane's lectures. All done on powerpoint, it's easy to take notes (although your hand does get tired). The class was a little bit of a headache for me, but it was worth it.
She's very nice and willing to explain anything you don't understand. There's a lot of reading, keep on top of it because it's crucial to the essays. Lectures are a bit unfocused but tolerable.
She is a really nice teacher, but yeah shes not that good at teaching. Her finals review sheets are helpful because it gives you all the ID's the essays were easy, but she goes way to fast and never finishes on time
I want to like her because she's SO genuinely nice...nonetheless she not the best teacher and to make things worse, she is teaching the boringest history ever. She never finishes on time, and she's rather verbose. Not recommended for GE. And to all history majors, hang in there...the rest of the 17 series is really fun.
Gets boring at times, but if you force yourself to get interested then it's not too bad. Vanessa Crispin-Peralta is an awesome TA. She's very knowledgeable and cared about her students.
A teacher that means well and is pretty nice but simply does not know how to teach. She gives lots of reading but none of it is really necessary. Most everything you needed for the midterm was covered in class. Papers are easy and straightforward but the class as a whole wasnt all that enjoyable
Her lectures don't flow very well. I found it difficult to take coherent notes. She's full of annoying analogies and anecdotes.
Lectures are unorganized and hard to keep track of. NEVER finishes lectures. When she realizes she's running out of time she goes through like 15 slides in 2 minutes. Lectures are useless. Midterm's weird, essay questions not like the review sheet. Goes on tangents. I'm a history major and she is one of the most boring history professors I've had.
HANDS DOWN THE WORST TEACHER I HAD AT UCSB. SHE SHOWS UP LATE, BAD LECTURES, TAUGHT US ALMOST NOTHING ALL QUARTER. SHES PRETTY EASY U JUST HAVE TO DO SOME OF THE READINGS. NOT A HARD TEACHER, BUT U WONT LEARN A DAMN THING FROM HER.
