Rodwell is the worst professor I have had in my entire life. HWs do not reflect on class material. Notes are full of useless information and do not reflect on the exam stuff. I can't stress enough how awful lectures are. He covers stuff fast, illegible handwriting with no references to look up. Absolute worst. He is impossible to talk to.
I would say Rodwell is definitely an acquired taste- you either enjoy his teaching style, or not at all. Although his homeworks, tests, and projects are extremely time consuming and difficult, he definitely cares about his students, atleast from my experience. I'm glad I'm done taking the 137 series but it was a worthwhile class nonetheless.
He is a strange man I will admit, but beneath that he really just cares that all of us learn and do well. He seems like he wants to make you feel dumb for asking questions but really he just wants you to ponder your question before he answers it. Does extra class to explain the labs which is so kind of him and even brought us pizza for one of them
I love Rodwell so much. I can understand why people say hes scary or condescending but really its just because he cares so much about how we are learning as students. Hes a crazy guy so that can also make it hard to tell that hes not actually annoyed with you, its just how he talks. Great lecturer and very reasonable exams. Take his class!
Makes students feel dumb if they ask a question yet gets upset that nobody wants to respond to him during lecture when he asks a question. Have gone to his office hours a few times and they are a complete waste of time. He rambles on and on. Also, again, humiliates students if they ask a question. Besides that, I guess his class was fine.
Mark Rodwell is such a person you would never want to talk in front of him because he never stops judging. The most intimating person I have ever seen that no matter what you are talking, he treats you as an idiot. The class material is easy but he makes it sounds difficult. He doesnt know how to teach at all.
Course content is great. Nice introduction to high speed circuits. Exams resemble homeworks. On the personal level, I can easily say most stressful, intimidating person I have ever seen, with many trash talking and gossips.
flying over the course material in class. Homeworks are good to understand the topics. Though, he is tough, intimidating and hard to communicate with.
mark rodwell is such a professor that whenever you talk in front of him, he just treats you as an idiot and talks nonsense. He is tough to communicate with. No one wants to mess up with him but in his mind, no one has the honor to talk with him although he is not a Nobel Prize owner.
Lectures were clear if you could keep up with his pace. They are full of info; too full since he goes over time often. Assignments are long and quite difficult, but are extremely helpful to study for tests. Midterm was easy, final was hard (mostly because it was so long no one finished). The 4 hour slot per week for lab is not enough.
Awesome Prof. Pros: He is very passionate about what he does and is enthusiastic in lecture. Got an A by reviewing hw before exams. Exams completely resemble hw and the material covered in class is the easiest of 2 series. Cons: Moves too fast in lecture and has horrible handwriting so note taking is impossible. But his online notes are amazing.
I felt that he is pretty intimidating to talk to. Don't get me wrong though - he is a very nice guy. Class is pretty straight forward. Knows his stuff and you will too if you attend lecture and do what he says. Labs were fun. Lecture can get confusing with all his approximations.
Pretty easy midterm and final. It's basically just a 10 week course on nodal analysis, so if you got the circuit analysis tools from 2a and 2b down, you should have a breeze. He's a pretty snazzy dresser too!
Midterm was too easy so he made final extra difficult/long. Use material from advanced courses. Approximates a lot in lecture which is very confusing. Labs are barely related TAs kinda helped for test with those reviews sessions. Labs are hard but easy A in the report (Stanley Yu). Test are one long problem. HW is fair. tests resemble HW. York wins
Excellent professor; VERY difficult class. Doesn't waste a second of time in lecture. Lab projects are very intense and weigh heavily on your grade (half the class slept overnight in the lab the day before it was due). Tests are difficult, but fair. Very passionate, very knowledgable. Good prof, but plan to devote ALOT!!! of hours to his class.
I Loved Rodwell for the 137 series. He is a great teacher, lots of enthusiasm but he was just flying by the seat of his pants through 145. Bad and too few examples, hard design project, fairly worthless class.
you have no time for other classes because the labs take so long. he only lectures on the lab a week before due day. he writes messy and always makes mistakes. his exam solutions are vague and incomplete and messy and often wrong. his lectures and solutions only confuse you. exams are ridiculously long. he cannot teach. he knows the stuff well tho.
just do the required work yourself and your gonna get an A .......easy! dont get the textbook his reader will become your bible.
This class is the reason for 5th yr seniors. People are for the most part confused and behind. You must take responsibility in working early so as to avoid the two day precheckout hurricane of people looking for lab benches. Realize that the project is EVERYTHING, you get an A regardless of your tests if rodwell is impressed by your project (hard).
avoid at all cost!
Rodwell is a dying breed of professors. You will either feed off his passion for the subject, or hate his over the top approach. Much nicer guy then people give him credit for, does not bullsh$t so know what you're talking about before asking. Has an amazing insight into fundamentals, explains well. If you appreciate this you will love his course.
DO NOT go to his office hours!!! he gives you the impression that you are not worth his time.
Not pleasent to deal with at all.
Went way too fast, impossible to get his time even durning office hours, tests were a matter of how quick you were not of the subject matter.
