CHEM123 . 15 Years Ago

While the course is in and of itself very practical, the choice of materials during his lectures is haphazard at best. The exams and final are even worse. He tests you on topics he barely talks about, repeating the same redundant topics which again barely appear on his exams. You have been warned.

While Prof. Perona is a nice teacher, his lectures are incredibly boring. He uses power point every day and his voice is very soft, so you can barely hear him. He offers extra credit when he sees the class doing poorly, but it isn't easy extra credit. He's alright, but I wouldn't take him again.

Perona is a good biochemistry professor, but there is just too much material in one quarter. There is no way to know and memorize every little detail in a mechanism. The class averages were ~50 on both midterms, but the final was fair.

Dr. Perona is a great professor. His tests are straighforward, and he is always willing to help students. People who do bad in his class are the people who never opened the Chem book. All you have to do is study...His practice tests are exactly like the real ones. Overall, great professor...challenges students to their full potential.

very boring, used a lot of powerpoint instead of the board, no cheat sheet allowed on the tests, which sucked, sometimes hard to hear

This guy ruined my spring quarter. In addition to all the material that the other classes had to know from the book, we had to know something like 300 ADDITIONAL pages of suppliments in one quarter. Take it from a guy that aces courses easily; I studied my

I hate this teacher.. His lectures are useless..It doesn't help you at all.. He doesn't do a lot of problems on the board..He's just a horrible teacher.. Don't take him..

His lectures are useless. Just show you the powerpoint, and don't do problems. All you need to do is to study by yourself from the powerpoint online and do example problems from the book. Tests are not tricky, but sometimes you don't know what he expects on the test. I do not recommend to take him.

Perona is a very difficult professor. His tests are impossible and i feel that power point is not a way to teach biochemistry. He is not enthusiastic about teaching and should stick with his research...his journal publishings are rather interesting, but teaching is not for him.

This guy was horrible!!!! VERY UNCLEAR! He uses power point and doesn't do any examples. Don't take him if you don't have to. He is very nice but a terrible teacher.

His lectures are usless and his tests are really hard. Too much O chem in his course for a 1C class. Made me never want to take O Chem.

This class is pretty straightforward. Going to lecture is unnecessary, it's almost straight from the book. Do the practice midterms and problems and the tests are really fair.

Horrible lecturer. Very unclear. Doesn't curve anything. Take CLAS or, better yet, another professor.

I really like this guy--he knows his**** and his tests are straight forward. It's chemistry, so you obviously have to study, but he tells you exactly what you need to know for tests and his tests aren't tricky.
