Jim is awesome;he loves what he is doing and you can see it.Lectures are fun, this is the only class that I actually go to.Midterm is essay, and take home essay for the final. u dont have to read, just read half way through the books so u can get an easy A for the quizes
Young, intelligent guy with very clear lectures, obviously enjoys what he is teaching. Had us read six 300-400 page book; not a very difficult class if you read: in-class essay midterm and take-home term paper.
wasnt expecting it, but great class...a lot of reading that you dont REALLY need to do but some of the books were interesting...great guy..in class midterm and a final paper with a detailed prompt
Most of the books for this class were actually pretty boring with a few exceptions. Be prepared to read a lot. He gives exam questions before the in class/take home essay (midterm/final). His lectures are boring, he basically reads from his own essay he writes. Very nice guy though, great class.
I was dreading taking this class at first, and now it is my favorite class that I took all quarter. Jim is an awesome professor. He is very fair, and gives you a sheet with what is going to be on the test before you take it. It is just a matter of preparing. Definitely take a class with him.
This class had a tremendous amount of reading but it fulfills a lot of GE requirements. Jim is a brilliant professor that comes to class prepared each day to offer fresh insights and ideas regarding the novels. He brings into account the adequate historical backgrounds of each narrative & is fun!
