One of the best profs at UCSB! I'm more into human geog but he made learning about the phys world super interesting and he's so knowledgeable about it. Grade is mostly based on pretty intense group projects which are randomly assigned so you can get unlucky but he's flexible. The field trips are fun too :)

He is a truly awesome professor, really funny and the class was super interesting. Attendance is not at all mandatory but if you go to class you will get an A, honestly maybe even if not but he cares so much you want to go, just 2 tests and term paper. Definitely would take another class with him and highly recommend, every lecture was super cool.

I took this as a GE but it was much harder than I thought. Its fairly interesting except for the fact we talked about soil for like 2 weeks straight lol. Dont need to read the book. His tests are based off lectures so you should definitely go. take home assignments and quizzes are very helpful to keep ur grade up.

Very manageable and caring design of classes. As long as you put efforts, this class will not disappoint you

Dont expect this class to be an easy GE, covers a ton of information in a short period of time which was frustrating but he acknowledged it which was nice . A great professor and obviously very knowledgeable on subject, made little jokes every once and awhile and overall just a chill guy . Iclicker questions for participation every class

His powerpoints are difficult to navigate and not easily interpreted and he speaks quickly without explaining things. This course is overall just designed poorly and covers a wide range of topics very quickly . First midterm was a D average second midterm had a c average. The textbook reading is not covered on midterms or the final.

Dar is the sweetest, most passionate professor. He manages to get so excited teaching about dirt and rocks and other atmospheric processes it's inspiring. He has a sense of humor and makes the class laugh without meaning to. I found the material super interesting, the work load is super manageable, and lecture was interesting.

Professor Roberts is funny, so he made the lectures as interesting as possible. The class was very demanding for it being a elective class. There is clicker-mandatory attendance and weekly quizzes. Two midterms and final as well. First midterm was very difficult and average was a D. This class requires comprehensive knowledge of the material.

Professor Dar is very passionate about what he teaches. He speaks a little fast during lectures, but hes open to repeat and clarify(Hes also pretty funny too!). Lecture and section is mandatory. An extra credit assignment was given too. First half of the material gets pretty confusing, so study up!

The professor is one of the best professors I ever met so far. The class was not hard if you attend the lecture and do the reading. And the lecture was very enjoying and interesting.

Professor Roberts is amazing, he is so passionate about what he is teaching and always goes out of his way to make the lectures as fun as possible. He is very easy to contact and will take the time to meet with students. For me, this class was very difficult for the reason there is SO MUCH material that you need to know, but Dar made it better.

Roberts is a great lecturer and he makes class interesting. However, there is such an absurdly huge amount of content to memorize. I've taken econ, math, other geo classes ... but this class... he goes over a huge amount of material to the point where it starts pissing you off by how much specific detail you need to know for the tests.

Great professor. He is interesting man. However, the one who designed for the course material is hyper inconsiderate. The course is super heavy to take as it covers tons of knowledge and the exams are tricky, and it even no longer satisfies area C requirement simply due to the change of course name. Can't believe it.

Professor Roberts is one of the BEST professors in the geography department! He's very intelligent and cares a lot for the subject. His class is mostly project based but you get to pick the topics. He's very helpful in office hours and he's hilarious. Would definitely take another one of his classes.

Dar is so sweet. All his lectures are super interesting and he makes it fun! You can tell he loves what he's talking about. His lecture slides are super clear and easy to take notes on (he uploads them beforehand; printing them out and taking notes on them helped me a ton). Exams are pretty straightforward if you study.

He is by far one of the most caring professors I have ever had, he goes out of his way to provide his students with the resources necessary to succeed in his class. Heavy readings, but he goes over the readings quite well in lecture.

You shouldn't take this class if you want an easy A. The material is not difficult, there is just A LOT of it. The tests weren't hard if you studied for them in advance. There are a few hw assignments that are basically graded like a quiz which is a good amount of your grade, but the TA's were really helpful.

Cons: there is a lot of material, test questions tricky, the final is cumulative, need to memorize soils & climate types & rock types. Pro: 5 homework assignments are fair & easy, TAs are really helpful, book isnt necessary but is helpful, all test questions are mult choice, Dar is super energetic which makes hard to fall asleep in lecture.

Very knowledgeable professor, makes things clear. But he is also very tough,1st midterm class average was an F, 2nd miderm was way better, but final was accumulated and HARD. He goes over too many materials and expects you to know every little thing for the tests. Not an easy class

GEOG202 . 14 Years Ago

He teaches Geog 202 from lecture slides and a notebook of equations, which are not indexed and not always clear. He's helpful, and he makes the material interesting, but the course content is huge, the homework is extensive, and the lack of good reference materials is an added pain. Plan on taking notes in lectures and being frustrated!

great professor.the class is really hard, but he made it really fun and interesting so it wasn't a pain to go to class everyday.Going to lecture is a must because he covers a lot of the material in class that is going to be on the labs, midterm, & final. Very helpful and midterms and finals are take home. he curves so i got an A instead of a B.

Awesome teacher. Area taught wasn't his research specialism but he was so enthusiastic that it more than made up for that, great class to take that teaches you a little bit of everything.
