Professor Moehlis is the chair of the ME department, so I can only imagine he chooses to teach Engineering 3 out of pure enjoyment. He'll make sure you know what you need and spend the remaining time connecting the work to fascinating math concepts and personal stories. Those with any coding experience will pass easily, so I'd call it a win-win.

I came in with zero coding experience. It was easy. I rarely went to lecture, but I was still successful. Weekly homework, handwritten midterm, final project. Work with friends on homework and the final. The midterm is straightforward if you haven't been cheating your way through the class. Moehlis doesn't really add or take away from the class.

Professor Moehlis is one of the best professors I've had so far! His lectures are very engaging and you can tell that he truly cares about his students. He gave us practice midterms which were very helpful for midterm prep. The prompts in lecture often mirror the homework, so even of you dont have prior coding experience its easy to learn.

Such an understanding professor, and truly wants his students to pass. The quizzes weren't too difficult, and his final project was extremely easy. Stay on top of weekly assignments and its a great class.

Ive had some lectures so far. His class is so interesting and he explains everything super well. It's crazy how patient and how good at explaining stuff he is. Definitely take this professor.

Professor J-Mo is perhaps the best professor I have had at UCSB. His lectures go in depth & he shares a lecture video of all the classes he takes. I was never checking my watch in his lectures & his interactive way of teaching made me look forward to this class every week. Keep up with the lecture as the HW gets harder every week. Come to lecture.

Prof J-Mo is a good lecturer, and succeeds in making his lectures fun and interesting. This course itself is very easy, if you have any prior programming experience you don't need to go to any classes. Grade is based off of weekly homeworks and quizzes (online), and take home midterm and final projects. All of which are pretty easy.

He's one of the best professors I have ever had. Make sure you practice from his video lectures (same as the classes) later and try to keep up with the class. He's really good at his lectures, never felt bored.

This class is pretty self taught if you dont have programming or coding experience. The in person lectures are exactly the same as the prerecorded lectures on Gauchospace, so going to class isnt needed. The lectures are very good at teaching basics, but the homework throws you in the middle of chaos and theres a lot of creative thinking.

His lectures were not helpful at all. Sections were the only useful things as well as TA office hours. The math and stats portion at the end (derivatives/probability) were taught in two days and confused me despite already knowing this. The homework wasn't hard but the midterm and final definitely were and tanked my grade. Wish I took CS 8 instead.

Took during the summer. Prerecorded lectures are useless. All he does is derive and read out equations, variable by variable, without giving the intuition behind them. You can understand him if you're a computer. Synchronous lectures are similarly boring and unhelpful. Surprised he has such a high rating, maybe he's better in person.

Professor Moehlis is amazing. His lectures are fascinating and helps a lot for you to understand the course materials. Half of the credits is just participation; the final project is not hard but really interesting.

Great professor for ENG3. Exam mistakes are costly but an A is very doable! Sections were basically optional if you have coding experience. Awesome class!

Moehlis was one of the beset professors you can get. He is extremely clear, keeps it interesting as possible, and tests/grades very fairly. You should take him if you have the option.

Prof. J-Mo is really amazing! He is so respectful and humorous. The lecture was great and the material is very easy to understand. The questions in the exams are very similar to his practices. If you think the homework or sections are a little bit hard, don't worry! Just follow his lecture and do the practice exams and you will get a good grade.

Very humorous guy. Makes lectures very fun. Homework is comprehensible, a good part of the grade, and helps a lot with test preparation. Teaches very clear. Hard class if you fall behind, easy when you get help and stay on top.

Great professor! You definitely want to take him. The midterm's really easy and the final is not that bad he curves the class to C+/B- but if you try you can easily get an A.

Prof J-Mo is a pretty good and interesting teacher. Though the "modules" in his class are often not totally related, he makes them interesting with cool application problems. This class is not difficult if you have prior programming experience and have taken/are taking linear algebra. The mid-term isn't bad; the final is pretty challenging.

The class was really easy at the beginning of the quarter, but suddenly everything becomes very different.

Not really a good teacher. Also the sections aren't really helpful at all. If you know how do the homework problems then you will do fine on the exams. You can miss lectures frequently.
