Dr. Eardly was one of the best teachers i had at UCSB. she is so kind and she really cares for her students. Her recomandation letter got me into med school.
She is unbearable to listen to. Every other word out of her mouth is either an "Um" or an "Ah." I don't think I made it through a whole one of her lectures. The class itself wasn't hard. The tests are pure memory based so if u take the time to memorize the material u'll get an A.
she does say "um" all the time! she is a nice lady but spends at least half of each lecture talking about herself, her kids, and trader joes. Her tests very pretty hard because she would ask very specific questions that i don't remember her ever mentioning in lecture. Fulfills a science requirement. Nutrition had always interested me...until now
Dont listen to fools who said she drives them crazy, She is just way to nice to you people. She wants everyone to do well in her class, even those of you who arent willing to work hard for an A, too bad she is retired as of this quarter, but thanks for one great quarter!
Hard tests! But she's funny, friendly and always willing to listen and to help out. Her lectures are jumbled, but if you do the reading you'll know why.
Stopped showing up to class because I couldn't handle the way she lectured
the subject is really interesting by itself, but eardley says "um" so much its hard not to find yourself playing solitaire on your lab top when she goes off on a tangent. the tests are really hard but if you use everything from lecture you should be fine. you dont even need to read the book either
Eardley is a very nice, intelligent woman who is passionate about her subject. That said, though, her lectures are mindnumbingly boring. If you are interested in the material then by all means take the class, because the material itself is good, just make sure you're up for the task of sitting through her tedious lectures..
the class itself is really interesting, but she's a boring lecturer. the midterm and final are multiple choice/short essay and there's a 5 page paper. i still say it's worth it because of the subject material and the fact that it's an easy A.
i took mcdb 21. i went to one lecture, listened to some incomprehensible jibberjabber, and never returned (except for the midterm and final.) this was possible because i had an awesome ta. not a class i would recommend, however, if you're just trying to knock out a science requirement like i was.
Apparently she's really hard to understand because she says "um" so much, I didn't really mind. She's definitely very intelligent and her lectures are relevant and interesting. The course is exactly what I thought it would be. Section was fabulous: I had Samantha Boroda who was great. The tests were murder though.
