She is my favorite teacher in the cinema department. As a film student, I learned a lot from her theory class. I have to say her class is easy, but once you put effort in it, you will get return. She always try to help every student to get a better grade. The only possibility you didn't get an A is you didn't even try a little bit.
Class title is misleading, because she tends to focus on female portrayals of Asian-American women in film, and talks mostly about her own book. However, the class is interesting enough. Tough grader, but willing to help if you actually make an effort to ask her.
Her class was very interesting at first and then realized that it was the same thing every week and info was repetitive. If you ask her for opinion on papers she will tell you exactly what to write. Seems like a hard grader but then realize that she helps you raise your grade. Take if you love the subject or if it is your major.
If you want to learn more than the contents inside textbooks, she is the professor to go to. Tries to keep the class thinking critically. Her papers are challenging, so always do your readings. Moreover, make sure to go to OH - it helps when she knows what you're writing about in advance.
She is the worst professor i have had.
This class was pretty easy. The information taught got repetitive. Lectures were boring, but there were a lot of videos. Grade consisted of 3 papers.. only about 3-4 pages long, and a section grade. Good GE class.
