As a History major with interest in the exact period covered by 17C, I could not stand to attend these lectures. He's a nice guy and all, and the class was easy and straightforward, but his lecture style is not engaging at all and I didn't feel like attending gave me any kind of advantage material-wise.
Lectures are really not fun. This period of American history seems relatively easy to make interesting, but this felt like an economics class for the most part. Easy GE though.
Lectures are dull, but the slides are posted to Canvas and attendance is not mandatory. Readings aren't strictly necessary either. Midterm, short essay, and final are all exceptionally easy.
Not a hard class just do the readings (you can just skim them if you don't want to). He posts the notes so if you can't make it to the lecture that comes in clutch. Your grade is based on 3 papers but the prompts were not bad and you have choices on what you want to write about. Overall great class and professor.
