JANES L
One of the most caring profs I've had at UCSB. He genuinely cares about the material and it's interesting to learn. Very easy to get an A in the class. The final is easier than it may seem. Attendance is taken in lecture and section, but there are also extra credit opportunities to make up for missed attendance.
I absolutely LOVE this professor and class. It was definitely my favorite class at UCSB because the content is super interesting and Luke makes the class very engaging. He is always looking for ways to improve himself and make sure that the class is feeling comfortable. He makes it easy to participate in class and in office hours. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Prof is super caring of his students. Class is super interesting and I learned a lot. He also took breaks during lecture which I liked for mindfulness. Weekly quizzes were open note and low stakes. Readings weekly but no paid textbook. Group project was conducting a mock therapy session and analyzing how well you played the role of therapist.
It was almost painful having to listen to Janes speak. Much of what he talked about was his own personal bias, including promotion of self-diagnosis and description of psychiatrists to be unqualified to diagnose mental illnesses. I don't use the term "woke" often but that's all this class was. At least it was an effortless A.
Amazing professor! Easy but interesting class, took attendance but allowed you to miss a few times without penalty. Really interactive and clearly cared about his students. Low stakes quizzes and a collaborative final project. Super easy and great professor!
Absolutely amazing class and professor! Can't recommend enough, weekly reading quiz and midterm + final reflection papers that weren't graded harshly. Material and reading were relevant and no busy work. Amazing lecturer, funny, and I enjoyed going to his class. Very engaging Janes was definitely one of the best professors I have had at UCSB.
