Just rewrites exact notes onto the board. Doesn't actually TEACH anything.
I got a D on my last try. This offering by Professor Rodriguez made the material very easy for everyone and even my parents could not believe I got an A-. Take him!
Hated this class. Avoid this prof like the plague. Impossible to understand him. I didn't go to class. Did CLAS instead. Not much homework. Exams are annoying. There is a true false section, but in order to get any of them correct, you have to prove your answer. If you say it is true, but give an incorrect proof, it will be marked incorrect.
There were eight problems in the final; if you got seven correct, you got full credit, and the extra one counted as extra credit. He also changed the grading scale to A+ >95; A >85; A- >80. However, you need to self-teach, to be honest, his lectures were pretty torturous. I hated him until the overall score came out :)
Linear Algebra itself I feel isn't too tough. However, do not underestimate his tests. The grading on them is harsher as well. Lectures can also be hard to follow, self teaching/studying with the textbook and (while not mandatory), going to section is very important for understanding concepts. The curving on grades is very nice in the end.
Worst professor I have ever had. Heavy accent and writes straight from the textbook in lectures. He doesn't teach he is just says what he is writing down and you write 10 pages notes each lecture. Final 50% of grade. Very harsh grader on midterm which was 30%. Such unnecessarily difficult test questions. Had to teach myself everything! AWFUL
Class is very rigorous and for the first time, I really appreciated linear algebra.
Worst math professor at UCSB. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Super harsh grader and tests are impossible. Lectures are basically textbook summary, you will have to self teach. Super thick accent to the point of being basically inaudible, and horrible handwriting so you can't follow notes. Take Labutin instead for 4A. Test heavy, 30% midterm, 50% final.
He spent the entirety of lectures talking at the blackboard and writing full sentences on the board. Super hard to follow. TA did all the homework for me because I didn't understand. Had to curve the class so that a total grade of 39% received a C.
Thanks to this professor, I found my love for statistics again. Amazing lecturer and very nice person
Class is well-organized, though lectures can be sometimes hard to follow. Homework is manageable. No complaints so far!
Easily the worst professor I have had at UCSB. He is incapable of giving a proper lecture and the tests are ridiculously hard and seemingly outside the scope of what we should reasonably know.
