Before taking classes with Maitane, I was unaware of the existence of the Basque Country. Now I can form simple sentences in Basque and ask people how they are doing, all thanks to Maitane! She is incredibly kind, caring, and patient, and she makes it a comfortable environment to make mistakes and learn! I hope to visit her in the Basque Country!!

Amazing professor, she really cares about her students and does a great job of teaching basque in her language classes! 10/10 have taken her classes a couple different times and definitely plan to again.

BEST PROF EVER! Basque is such a cool language, and Maitane is a great instructor- very kind and understanding. The homework is graded on completion, and the tests are very easy and questions are pulled from the hw. 10/10 recommend

One of my favorite professors I've had at UCSB. There's barely any homework so a good majority of your grade is the midterm and the final but she posts study guides beforehand with questions that are pretty much the same as the ones on the exams. The material can be a little hard to understand but if you go to lecture you should be good.
