Lecture video explanations were so helpful/organized, follow the syllabus. Has three main assignments, and weekly discussion posts. Assignments were SO fun and interactive, news report, interviews, and a queer zine. Much better than having a midterm/final. Expanded my knowledge on the LGBTQIA+ topics. TA actually cared and left helpful feedback.

Professor Ward is the best! engaging lectures, two 500-word writing assignments, a written midterm with 3 questions, an easy MCQ final, but mandatory attendance taken through canvas! i highly recommend doing the (super interesting) readings, though not necessary since they were often discussed in lecture or through section. love love this class!!!

best ucsb professor I've had so far. she is so smart that i want to buy her book and read it just to support her. also an extremely engaging lecturer - I'm never bored when taking notes and listening to her speak

took this as an async summer class and absolutely loved the material, lectures, and projects. grading criteria was clear and so was assignment expectations. the projects were designing a magazine, video project on queer news, and another video project conducting an interview with someone. highly recommend taking this prof if you have the chance!!

Professor Ward is great! Discussions in class were so interesting and I appreciate how she talks to us like scholars not students. The content of this class was so interesting and she provided a really interesting perspective of the content. Really engaging lecturer and she had many fun anecdotes. Such an amazing professor definitely take her!

Lectures were boring and tedious. The professor did not offer any good insights into the topics/readings at hand. Really, unnecessary to attend any of them. Do the readings, though -- the readings are actually interesting and informative. Very disappointing class.
