His lectures are very clear. All his knowledge points are in his notes. The homework is a bit difficult, but the exams have similar questions and are relatively easy.
Super caring professor, while his thick accent and messy handwriting can be a little difficult to follow he posts all his lectures and notes online and allows cheat sheets for the exam. His midterm & final practice tests are pretty similar to the exam itself. Made the class really manageable.
Had Prof Nagy for Math 4B and Math 8, and I highly recommend. He is a super chill and caring prof -- lectures are well-organized and clear, prepares you well for tests (they are very similar to practice and he lets you have a cheat sheet), and he uploads lecture and notes material online. What more can you ask for!
Class material is obviously hard but he explains thoroughly in OH and even does hw problems for you. Midterms and final are exactly like the practice problems and he uploads solution videos that are very helpful. Plus, he replies quickly to emails and uploads all his lectures online. Great prof would definitely take again
Akos cares about his students, and supports students outside of class. Exams were easy, and he gave generous curve.
very easy class. His lectures are very helpful and the tests are similar to the practice tests. Final was a bit tricky, but allows a cheat sheet. Bad parts: Did not let people curve their grades up. Close to an A-, did not let it slide to an A
Nagy cares about his students, and his exams are very similar to practice exams he gives. Our class average was really high. Definitely recommend!
Have no idea how he curved s.t. the horribly hard final has an average of 85 as he claimed. He said he was satisfied about our performance but actually we learned nothing from him. He has absolutely no idea what he's doing but keep talking nonsense in class. The silliest thing is that there're even questions that he can't solve himself in the exam.
"Typos" in midterm, confusing lectures. I cannot understand anything from week7. OH is not really helpful. The professor even got confused on his own homework and lecture. The textbook has typos, too. Few proof in class. I feel disappointed about my math skills and doubt myself a lot in this class. Makes me sad.
Attending the lectures does not help you do the HW at all. He stuck on a proof for 10 min and told us to continue this proof next class. How are we supposed to prove it if the professor cannot even prove the problem.
Cannot understand what he is talking about, especially for the last few weeks' non book material. He never writes proofs in class even if this is an upper-level proof-intensive course. Do not expect to learn something from him but I'm sure your self-learning skill will be improved a lot. Really bad experience and struck my passion for math.........
Doesn't (know how to) teach but still thinks himself is awesome. Simply read textbook but still make lots of typos & even stuck with proof several times in class... Don't expect to be able to solve the HW only with his lecture (it's totally useless) & be expected to read a lot (although the book also has lots of mistakes) & be prepared to suffer...
