Definitely an easy GE. I don't really like his lectures, and there was too much reading. My TA did a much better job imo. However, I still learned a lot about Tibetan Buddhism, and I love it. The materials themselves are interesting and insightful, it's just that Prof Ium didn't approach them in an interesting way.

Prof Ium is a nice person and quite knowledgeable about Buddhism matters, however, his lectures are quite difficult to sit through as slides are text-filled and prof read through slides from beginning to end monotone. Also a bit unorganized in my opinion, and sections and TA clear things up a lot. Way too much reading.

This may have been the easiest class I've ever taken and will take. However, the class structure is not good. There is too much reading, and there is no incentive to read all of it, making it hard to understand the material and learn it. If he can just change the way we do the readings, the class would be awesome.

I don't have many complaints, except that his grading scale for the two papers you write in this course are graded either 100%, 85%, 75% or 65%. So unless you write a sensational, mind-blowing, otherworldly paper, the highest grade you can receive is a B. Class would be better is there was an A option on the grading scale, other than perfect score.

If you can avoid it, do not take this class (and especially this professor). Lectures are unbearable; Professor Ium will state a fact about some obscure aspect of Tibetan Buddhism then have no broader thoughts on the matter and move on to the next useless fact. Tons of reading along with required annotations. TA is a better teacher.
