He is very clear with his expectations and is very understanding with assignment deadlines. 60% participation and zybook(PA only) 20%HW 20% Final. HWs were fair and usually not too bad(one was very rough but we were given lots of time/help for it) and final was take home but very difficult so overall pretty fair. Good lectures and helpful overall.

One of the best instructors/professors I've ever had. Had almost the entire class engaged. The lecture was more than enough to understand the material and if a refresher is needed, a reread of the textbook will do. Very fair class. Cares about students more than you can imagine.

Homework ties directly to reading and lectures are always interesting. Overall amazing and friendly guy as well.

Incredibly caring and nice instructor! Explained the concepts quite well, CampusWire was invaluable, and he definitely put in the hours to teach the class. The final was a bit brutal, but I think I was prepared enough from the class to do well enough that Im satisfied with my performance on both the final and in the class overall.

Sharad was one of the best profs I had at UCSB. Cares for his students and wants them to succeed in the class. Grading is lenient but you must try in order to do good in this class.

Sharad is probably one of the best instructors I have had at UCSB. He's a super cool dude who really wants you to have a sturdy foundation of discrete and be prepared for future courses. CS 40 material is difficult, but grading criteria give you an opportunity to pass as long as you do the work. To get an A, you just have to try a bit more.
