SOLIS S W
The midterm and final were both very fair and we were given plenty of practice problems/tests to help prepare us. Prof Solis really cares about us understanding the concepts and uses the Book of Proof to teach her class. Sections were very helpful to practice more proofs and a little extra credit/curve was given at the end of the class.
Solis changes the syllabus of this course to make it much much more difficult than before. She changes the midterm project and final project into examinations! RUN!!!
I was extremely disappointed by this class. Professor Solis was not only unorganized and unhelpful, but also failed to acknowledge students frustrations with the class as a whole.
She stole the whole lab, homework, lecture, and exam material from Berkeley. She even went as far as making a specific joke in her lecture that we later found another Berekely professor made a year prior. If you line up two lecture videos from her and a Berkely professor, they are the exact same. It is honestly shocking.
Unclear, disorganized, unhelpful, doesn't listen to feedback. Do not take it if in-person tests are part of grade
This class was the most unorganized and unfair class ever. I, as well as most of the students in this class have expressed our concerns to her given the fact that she always grades our assignments too late, does not give good feedback, and does not adequately teach. With these concerns, absolutely nothing has been done. Do not take this class.
great lecturer and great notes BUT the final and midterm combined are worth 60% of your grade, no curve. 1/2 of questions on midterm were either not taught yet or were mentioned literally the day before the exam. pretty much impossible to get an A since midterm was a wreck. regret taking this class so much. attend section, ta is very helpful.
so far the professor solis is sweet and nice but the TA's during section don't help if you're trying to learn and its just hard to not learn anything when this is an introduction class... so good luck with the TA's.
very good professor
Sharon is a very sweet person. She dedicates her lectures to addressing concepts in a simple way and gives time to work on practice problems and receive feedback. The textbook, provided for free, is recommended for additional work on practice problems. Ensure to revise for her exams: the midterm and final are each worth 40% of the entire grade.
Professor Solis is amazing, I really like her. She however goes over the material really fast and it is sometimes hard to follow. There is also weekly homework and lab assignments for which I often have to go to tutoring hours.
She is a really nice Professor. The lecture is engaging. Lecture is recorded. Every material in this course is easy to read. Just enjoy this course.
