IGNORE ANY GOOD REVIEWS. I'm a hard-working student who consistently gets A's, and i got C's on both exams. she made us have 3 lectures a week even though it was a 2 lecture per week class, & the lectures were so content-heavy that I couldn't speed them up and ended up with 7-9 pages of notes per video. DO NOT take this class with Erickson.

She is so passionate about the subject and makes lectures super interesting. You can watch the lectures asynchronously. The labs are difficult but can be done successfully with the help of your TA during lab. Quizzes and midterm were very straightforward and were material straight from the lecture main ideas. Final was difficult content

As a person, was amazing bc super passionate and eager to teach. As a prof, there were 2 in-person AND asynch lectures each a wk, gave way too much work + info in her slides + content for midterm/finals. She'd edit the vids to cut out any little pause to maximize info and quizzed us on stuff we hadn't learned yet. Would not retake for just a GE.

Professor Erickson is a wonderful professor. She invested in making the lectures clear interesting and engaging. Professor Erickson is very knowledgeable and always responds to emails. Be prepared to work hard, but you will learn so much and grading is very fair. She offers a lot of extra credit. My TA, Jacob Schmidt, was excellent too. Recommend!

It is a ton of work for a GE with 1-2 quizzes, two online lectures and two in-person lectures, a lab, and a writing assignment each week. The quizzes and labs were pretty tough and you'll only do well on exams if you basically take notes on every minute of the lectures. I would not recommend this class for a GE, take something easier.

if i spent 24hrs doing hw in a week, 20 of those were for EARTH10, the other 4 on my other 3 classes (1 of which… a major class) unbelievably hard for absolutely no reason considering it’s a GE class. everything due at noon on friday unlike every other normal class.

This is honestly one of the worst classes I've taken at UCSB. I was so excited for it but Prof Erickson is way too harsh on the grading of this GE course. We basically had 3 quizzes every week -- honestly ridiculous for a GE. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. DO NOT TAKE WITH HER.

This class should not be as difficult as it was with Prof. Erickson. I heard good things about Earth 10 as a GE, but DO NOT take it with her.

Very tough grader. Lots of work on the labs and the mid-term questions were very tricky. The class average for the midterm was a C and she said that it was an expected average. A lot of work and complicated for a lower division GE. I regret taking this class.
