Lectures are synchronous but optional and posted on GS. I only went to one lecture lol but from that I could tell he was a good prof. Theres disc posts every week a paper on a book of ur choice from a list a midterm and final (basically 3 papers) Everything takehome. If you know what youre doing and turn in good work youll be fine.
I absolutely loved Professor Kohlers class! His lectures are interesting, and he is a pretty easy grader when it comes to papers, but he expects a lot when it comes to the weekly discussion forums. There is a lot of reading assigned, but as long as you keep up and watch the lectures and turn in assignments on time, you can easily get an A.
Dr. Kohler's lectures were extremely informative. Also every week he provided an array of readings that related to that week's theme which really helped build my understanding of different theories of race. Read many fascinating articles, excerpts, papers etc. and feel like I am leaving this course with a deeper understanding of race relations.
Professor Kohler delves into the nitty gritty of racial theory and is incredibly skilled at describing the history of race in America as well as the steps we need to do today to fix our problems. Really impactful and thought-provoking lectures, would take again
