Very caring and nice professor. Weekly exploration assignments are simple but interesting and creative. The final project is super flexible and inspiring.

Professor Lopez is one of the best teachers I've ever had! She's compassionate, thoughtful of students mental health, and creates a space where open-discussion is welcomed. The class isn't based on any tests but instead on a variety of different sub-assignments, plus one group project (which wasn't too bad). Take this class! You won't regret it!

One of the best professors Ive had at UCSB. She is so caring to students and fair to our workload and current pandemic situation. She is extremely knowledgeable and spends time breaking down difficult concepts and attends to students needs. She opened up my eyes to an entire new world of linguistics, and thats how you know it was a good class.

Fun class, very low-maintenance. Data-analyses are easy, reading material and lectures aren't very heavy. Bubbly professor made for bubbly classmates.

No tests or quizzes, just participation, hw, and data analysis assignments.

Professor Lopez is very caring. Her lectures are interesting and engaging, and she's great to talk to during office hours. Despite being a little disorganized, she generally posted the lecture recordings on time. She adjusted a lot of assignment deadlines based on student feedback, which I appreciated.
