this class had very long and kind of boring lectures, but you can tell she cares about the subjects. mandatory attendance and participation for sections and the papers weren't that hard.
Lectures long and honestly a bit boring. Class was easy and you just need to participate in section to get a good grade (30% of grade). Exams were take-home essays and not difficult to do. Probably wouldn't take again, but needed to for major credit.
I'm liberal, but Professor Moore takes it to an extreme. Most of the class is her complaining. To her, all George Washington is is a "brutal enslaver" and slave rebellions are the most important part of history. She even said the Haitian revolution was more important than the American and French ones. Don't take if there's anyone more left than you
Professor Moore's a kind person. Unfortunately, her lectures were boring. I went to every one and she only read off an outline. It too bad because it's clear she's passionate about the topic. However, in terms of course content, this class was interesting. I appreciated how she provided a free version of the textbook.
Prof Moore is very passionate about what she teaches, however, I found her lectures to be extremely boring and long. We got graded on two papers, discussion attendance, and a final. The final consisted of two essays and three paragraph responses. You don't need to go to lecture, but you need to attend section which I found more helpful anyway.
You only need to attend lectures or read the textbook to get an easy A. I chose the lecture route, and Moore made the class interesting and easy to understand. Section attendance and participation are necessary but I believe they helped when writing the 2 essays and take-home final. Shoutout TA Anna Winn.
Very similar to APUSH. While lectures aren't required, you have to cite her lectures in papers + the final, so attendance is necessary. She posts the lecture slides ahead of time, which is good because she talks very quickly. Grading heavily depends on the TA. Very passionate lecturer
This course reminded me a lot of APUSH. Missing lectures means you're likely missing important context. The grading for the class is straightforward: two papers and a final exam. However, these are graded by the TAs rather than Moore herself. This means the quality of feedback and grading can vary depending on your assigned TA.
I thought her class was easy up until the final. The final consists of 3 short answer questions and 2 essays, while our coursework involved 2 essays. How is our coursework LESS work than our final? Our sections were easy, and participation matters. My biggest piece of advice is to talk to your TA. My TA was much more helpful than Professor Moore.
I love her don't get me wrong. Her lectures don't feel like they drag on too long (but you definitely want to be there because she says a lot that's not written on the slides.) HOWEVER I would not take her again because her final is so bad. She presents the class as easy which it is but her final is 3 short answer and 2 essays.
Prof. Moore is a great instructor. Her lectures are clear and well-paced. The syllabus outlines how to succeed in the course, so you shouldn't have any trouble. Lectures are insightful and her exams are fair. There are weekly readings to complete before section, but they are very short and contribute well to discussion section. Fun and easy A.
Professor Moore taught 17A with passion, always encouraging discussion and exploration into the topics. Homework shouldn't take more than a few hours a week. Instructions for essays/exams were very clear. Lectures aren't mandatory, but important and somewhat hard to miss. Take good notes. Section is important too, get to know your TA!
