Brian was AWESOME! 10/10 would take again. He's a super engaging lecturer and you can tell he is passionate about the subjects he teachers. He definitely cultivates his students' love for history, and he's more than willing to re-explain topics that are confusing. The reading was light to moderate and not many assignments!
I have had Brian for two different classes and he was awesome during both. TA for 17B and as a Prof for Food History. He was very accommodating and cared for his students, made sure we understood the topics, and is easy to reach outside of class. I actually enjoyed learning about history because of him! Take his class its great. Period.
Brian has been my favorite professor at this university so far. During this class he was nothing but understanding and quickly communicative. I'm not super interested in history but he made it fun and easy to understand on a weekly basis. I HIGHLY recommend this professor and I cannot emphasis that enough.
Had Griffith as a TA for History 17B. Gives helpful writing tools for writing your history paper, like how to write a good thesis, citation info, etc. Gives a few reading questions each week for homework but it'll help in understanding the readings and to be prepared for discussions. Participation is easy if you do homework and take section notes!
