Really did not enjoy this class- it may have just been the content in general but I really struggled and Kristiansen's lectures didn't help a whole lot. It didn't help that his lectures were at 8 AM and we could barely hear him either. I basically just tried to read the textbook and do practice problems to prepare for the final.
Worst prof in the physics department so far. If you're ready to completely teach yourself a course, then this class is for you. Homework wasn't too bad, midterm was insanely hard, final was more fair. Instead of curving the super low midterm avg he just made the final worth 60%. Couldn't hear him at all, terrible at answering questions. Do not take
The midterm average was a 52 and had questions that were never discussed about ever in class. Hard to hear both in lecture hall and recordings, the background static is louder than he is. Not very helpful outside of class either. Midterm review problems were utterly useless and did not reflect the test.
Alright so I'll give you the hard truth. The midterm average was about 50%. He gave questions on the midterm we've never covered in class before. The static in the background in the lecture videos is actually louder than he is. His lectures are reviews of the book. Nay- it actually is the book.
For an online class, I think that Kai was very reasonable with accommodations in response to the challenges in online learning! He was fair with his grading scheme and the content of his quizzes. He was also pretty good at responding to emails in a timely matter. Sometimes it was hard to understand him, but otherwise a solid professor for 6C.
Professor Kristiansen gives super fair exams and homework. His lectures move kind of slow but he goes in-depth and does a good job explaining topics.
