Weekly readings and some quizzes for them but nothing tricky. Midterm with short answers and final essay. Participation counts in section, but it was easy and engaging. Absolutely love Isabella. She genuinely cares for her job and students. The class was an easy A, but I really learned a lot and enjoyed each lecture and topic. Highly recommend.
Graded by sections, 5 quizzes, midterm, and final paper. Most work was done in sections: group projects, etc. All quizzes were very straightforward – midterm was take-home over 1 week. Final paper was an interview; super cool project to complete, transcription took forever! Otherwise, prof. speaks very quickly but is caring and accommodating.
Loved this class! It was so interesting & a lot of the content helps you understand the world better. Lots of readings but they were all useful & important to the class and she would post slides & lectures on GS. She is very accommodating and truly cares about her students! The final project/interview was really eye opening. Take this class!!
I loved this class and the readings given for the weeks, I also had an amazing TA. I loved the final project, her lectures were honestly the best part of my week. It is a lot of work but honestly worth it.
Amazing real professor. Understanding of how hard it is to be a student and respectful of current social atmosphere. Occasional quizzes on the readings which are staples for feminist studies. Midterm quiz and final essay where you interview a WOC.
Very funny and engaging professor. Super knowledgable and passionate. The lectures have lots of information and she speaks very fast and goes through the slides a little quick, but if you pay attention and write down the main stuff, you will be fine. Open-note quizzes. She cares that you understand the content, not memorize it. Fair midterm.
Professor Restrepo is so passionate about what she teaches and it shows! She's also very funny. You can tell her and her TA's care about the success of students. There is heavy weekly reading but it is interesting. 6 pop quizes in the quarter so go to lec but one drops. Section is mandatory. If you get the chance to take her class do it I loved it!
Lectures go fast, so definitely take pictures of the slides. A lot of reading, but I felt that they were all important- no filler. You learn so much in this class, it really expands your world view. There is some graphic information in some of the lectures, but the prof will always send an email to warn you. I loved this class, informative and fun.
One of the best professor at UCSB. Class is reading heavy like any other FEMST class. One midterm, one final paper, 6 pop quizzes. My TA was super cool (shoutout to Ida) .Lectures are always amazing and keep you engaged (beware: she talks fast) I always looked forward to going to class. 10/10 would recommend :) you'll leave with a new understanding
Assigns 60-80 pages of reading per week. Does not put slides up on GauchoSpace so you have to go to lecture or you will miss out. Talks a lot and talks fast. The grading is based on 6 quizzes, your midterm, section participation, and the final. Other than all of this, I do feel as if I have learned many things that I did not previously know.
