Professor Spratt is an excellent lecturer. She is very understanding of her students and knowledgeable about the topics that she teaches. I would highly recommend her classes because they are both enjoyable and academically enriching. Overall, I would say that my experience in her class has been my best experience in the entire geology dep. at UCSB

One of my favorite classes at UCSB. Rachel takes a topic that is very complicated and heavy on material and makes it interesting and understandable to students. She is always there to help people that are struggling and everything you need to know are in her lectures and labs. She also adds guest lecturers and speakers to tie it all together.

Very caring and passionate about the material. She makes herself readily available to students that need help and have questions and even though some of the content can get tough she supplements with guest lecturers and speakers to make it more relatable to students. It is very clear she cares about her students and is an overall great teacher.

her ppts are hard to read and contain a lot of irrelevant information, besides, she repeats most of her slides in different ppts, which makes her lectures even more confusing. She relies heavily on guest speakers and teaches very little actual content. her exams are confusing and grading scheme is also unclear. im running outta space. DONT TAKE IT.

Really the worst lecturer in my 1st quarter of college. Fill the course with guest speakers for the 1st half of the quarter and lecture without a clear sense of course design overall. The funniest thing is she NEVER figured out the grading standard of the course herself and still got it wrong on the last day of the class XD (TAs got it correct tho

Prob her first time teaching, but very nice. Class was super easy, no textbook needed. Little all over the place with no clear flow of topics, but lots of review and clear expectations for quizzes. Labs are 50% of grade but super easy. Cares about her students and genuinely wants to help. Super sweet lady!

Professor Spratt is a nice lady but she can't lecture whatsoever. her slides were always mixed up and she couldn't answer basic questions. Her tests were poorly worded, which made them a lot harder than necessary but the grading scale was so skewed if you got a low B test average but did everything else, you got an A. take a different GE

Her slides were disorganized and difficult to understand. Most classes had a guest speaker, whose specialities ranged and mostly didnt have to do with the course. The class before would be all the info needed for the quiz crammed into the hour. No one knew what was going on including Spratt. Attend all labs, they will save grade from C quizzes.

Oceanography could be an interesting class... if not for this professor. Her slides are HORRIBLE, it's impossible to study off of them, so going to lecture is necessary for an A which sucks because lectures aren't any better. No structure. Labs are pretty boring 80% of the time. But she is very nice and there are a few interesting guest speakers.

slides always mixed up and confusing, no one ever knows what's going on, including the professor sometimes. Midterms are cumulative and have concepts we barely touch on. She introduces new material for the tests once the day before like we've been studying it all quarter. Very unorganized.
