I give 5s too often. He's a 6. Professor Salushchev is a wonderful professor and person. He not only cares strongly about what he teaches, but he is a very effective lecturer. While his slides may be packed with tons of text, they are navigable. I enjoyed each lecture. Go to office hours and email if you have questions, he's always willing to help.
Took during TA strike quarter. Not very accommodating in that regard. Otherwise, caring guy who keeps lectures fresh (even though he goes super fast). Would definitely recommend going to sections to clear up sometimes confusing lectures. Content is super manageable though. Graded by weekly forum posts, midterm, section attendance, and final paper.
Prof. Salushchev is really great. His lectures are full of information, but he explains things really well and is open to answering lots of questions. While the content could be hard to fully understand, the assignments were relatively easy-- one assignment per week about the readings, a midterm, and a final paper. He's also very personable.
One of the best history classes I've taken as a history major. Prof. Salushchev is extremely organized, lectures go hand in hand with the textbook. Make sure to read chapter before coming to lecture; he does a great job at explaining concepts & answers every question. TA's for this class were amazing too.1 weekly assignment, 1 midterm,1 final paper
Professor Salushchev is a kind and very knowledgeable professor. He's very open to students asking questions in class to clarify material. Lectures are fast-paced, so using section to clarify material can be useful.
Professor Salushchev is a really thoughtful professor. His lectures were alway jam-packed with information, so you have to pay close attention. He's great at clarifying content from his lectures and the readings. The TAs were amazing, section will save your grade if you're struggling! Weekly writing assignments, one midterm exam, and a final paper.
Professor Salushchev's lectures were full of helpful visuals and interesting content. He teaches Russian history from unconventional perspective of the country's borderlands, which made this history class unlike any other that I took at UCSB. He was always available to meet during office hours and responded quickly via email. Highly recommend!
Good professor
