He was my TA for Phil 1 and he helped me with the papers. He went out of his way just to help me and is caring. I would recommend taking a course with him.
LeBrun himself was a pretty engaging lecturer. He goes over concepts you'll need to understand for assignments (and doesn't post slides), so attend class!! TAs can be a mixed bag, some are more chill while others are really harsh. Overall though, the TAs grade pretty harshly so beware if you're taking for a GE.
I loved this class. The lectures were super interesting and engaging. But, the TAs were really hard graders, saying that a good essay is an 85%. Fair amount of reading per week.
Great lecturer and teaches super interesting stuff, but definitely makes it harder than a lower div GE should be. It's not hard to get an A, but be prepared to put in more work than you'd expect for a lower div. TAs grade harshly & assignment instructions not clear but if you go to OH they'll tell you what to write. Doesn't post lecture slides
he is low key amazing. he suddenly gives extra credit so be ready to go to every and all lectures. he is accessible outside of class, always. he explains the theories well but you have to be in lecture, cus he doesn't post lecture notes. moral of the story he is a good professor and go to lecture, ALWAYS.
LeBrun is an amazing lecturer and overall human being. Engaging, thoughtful, and very charismatic. Participation isn't mandatory but is crucial in order to pass the class. TA's grade harshly, which is my only complaint. I feel like grading became very arbitrary, and it was difficult to achieve good grades. Overall 8/10 experience!
This class was frustrating because the professor made us interpret what he meant in the assignment directions. If you didn't guess what he wanted correctly, you'd earn a poor grade on that assignment, and hopefully interpret the instructions for the next assignment better. For being a GE, this was definitely not what I was trying to sign up for.
I thought that Professor Lebrun did a great job with the Phil7 course. Pacing was tricky at times, but the lectures were engaging and he gave prompt choices so you could choose the one that worked best for you. I went through a family emergency in the class, and both him and my TA were very understanding and helpful.
Really engaging and interesting material! Prof. LeBrun explains the concepts thoroughly with lots of examples and takes you through exactly what he's looking for on papers/weekly assignments. Lots of writing involved but papers are relatively straightforward. would take another class with him if I was a phil major!
Professor is awesome and lectures are engaging. However, the pacing of the course was rushed around the second half of the quarter, which made it hard to learn. Essays were graded *hard* and there was little feedback; my writing performance dipped because I was mostly trying to please the TA, not engage with the material.
professor Lebrun is an angel. only lecture videos I looked forward to watching although they were somewhat long. section TAs are also the best! they are very considerate and were so accommodating during the pandemic. I would love to take more classes w Alex but unfortunately im not majoring in his field. 10/10 recommend.
Lebrun is one of the coolest professors ive had. His lectures are really easy to follow and he provides us with enough resources outside of lectures to succeed. Would recommend for an easy GE
