Overall, the professor is very kind but I feel like he didn't know what he was doing majority of the time. This class had two writing assignments. One in person mid term and a final online. They graded somewhat easily but the material was boring, I would rather take another class for my general ed.
ARTHI 6DS was my favorite GE so far, and his lectures were very pleasant with interesting topics. His and the TA's expectations for us were fair. It was weekly reading quiz and section, a midterm, two papers, and a final. He gave us a paper extension and and a take-home final. My only complaint is the quality of the lecture pictures posted.
His lectures are logical and inspiring. I thought I'd be familiar to Chinese art, but he opens a lot of new perspectives. Also, joining his office hours is recommended. No reading requirement, but there're two essays. Weekly quizzes are tricky, make sure to do double checks.
Art history classes usually require a lot of readings, but not for Professor von Mirbach. I took his class in summer. The first day of class he said:"I know you guys have other classes and readings, so I am not going to put more pressure on you."Go to lecture, take good notes, fully understand what he expects on your essays, and you should be fine.
His lectures are so boring, it is impossible to make it through a full one. We are not even allowed to look at our phones as if the entire classroom is made up of middle school kids. Extremely unclear about what will be tested. He waited until after it was too late to tell me something extremely important about the class. Never take him ever
He is a considerate instructor. For the summer session. there aren't readings and assignments except for two papers (500 words and 1000 words) that satisfy the writing requirement. Go to the class and sections then you will ace it.
