Matt Giles is one of the best professors here at UCSB. Be ready to participate in class and pay attention and take notes as his tests are based on his lectures. His lectures are very interesting and he makes the concepts easy to understand and remember. He is very helpful and understanding and always keeps his students in mind.

Passed every homework assignment only to end with a low B. He is the type of professor who makes you do the class on your own and takes his sweet time grading assignments. Gave me a 20% on my final project after admitting that I am a good student who has a good understanding of the course concepts. Unreasonable and not a good professor.

I had Matt for Intro to Communication and he was willing to work with me to help with my writing. I did really bad on our midterm essay but got an A on the 2nd essay after he helped me edit and make scientific arguments.
