Jonathan is clearly very intelligent and well-versed in the course material. However, despite my interest in the subject-matter, I often felt inferior to the men in the class that Jonathan clearly favored. He was often quite dismissive of other people's points and allowed these few, favored men to take up the majority of space in the classroom.
I really enjoyed this class, the context and lectures were very informative and interesting. It does have philosophical undertones, though, making it slightly difficult. Also, Prof doesn't post current/overall grade updates, you basically have to estimate what your grade is the entire quarter, and calculate it yourself... Not a fan of that!
Took his animals in human society class. Clearly a hardcore vegan but comes across as relatively non-judgemental to nonvegans in the class. A lot of intensive philosophical reading and pop quizzes on the reading. If you're interested in the subject and willing to work, the class is straightforward. He's a great lecturer and very funny.
