To be honest, I don't know if the comm department cracked down on her or something, or even if it's because she hasn't taught this class, but comm122 this quarter has been TERRIBLE. Boring lectures at 9am twice a week, strictly graded papers, and two very hard exams. Professor Gibbs is nice but this has been a bad class.
I enjoyed taking this class in S22! I always looked forward to coming to lectures. Grading consisted of a topic video project (15%), two writing assignments (15% ea.), a midterm (20%), and a group research project (35%). You worked on the group project throughout the quarter so it wasn't difficult. I would recommend this class & professor!
Prof Gibbs is a very caring and intelligent lady. The lectures are engaging and inspiring. Papers and tests are graded generously as long as you work. Easy A!
I think Gibbs is a great professor, you can tell she's extremely intelligent and passionate about the material. I had more issues with the structure of the class, unfortunately, too much of the grade was centered around a group project which really sucks if you get stuck with a lazy group. I also wish the paper prompts were less vague.
The best professor in the Comm department!!!!!!!!!!!! Very caring and her lectures are very clear and full of interesting content.
Gibbs' COMM 136 class was an easy A and was actually very interesting. Your grade is made up of attendance (mandatory), a reading application, two writing assignments, a group project, and a midterm. NO FINAL!! Definitely take this class. Gibbs is such a caring and nice professor who cares about her students and wants everyone to do well!
Gibbs is great. This was an easy A class for me and I enjoyed her lectures. She is really knowledgeable and has interesting class discussions. Highly recommend taking one of her class. Note: if you don't like busy work this may not be the course for you.
Gibbs Great
Take one of her classes! She is such a sweet lady. I took Intercultural with her during the 2017 school year, and I am currently taking her COMM136 class. Her lectures are straight forward and so is the midterm. No final, just a group paper. There are a few assignments, but they are interesting & help you apply the material. Thanks Prof Gibbs!
