Spencer is the best teacher at UCSB I have ever had. He was so tremendously clear in his lectures and none of his tests scares you with any information he has never shown you before. I always felt prepared going into his tests. You do have to write a paper, but he prepares you every step of the way. Excellent teacher.

Very nice and approachable. Gave good advice on grad school. Textbook pdf is free online but I barely read it tbh. Just put some effort in, start your proposal early, and you'll be good.
