Loved prof Soto. He's so kind and funny, the lectures are simple and the main work was discussion posts each week. I had no confusion with anything and he's an easy grader on the midterm and final, which are either projects or papers (you choose). Definitely take him!!
Profe Soto is truly inspirational. Unique teaching style incorporating videos, guest speakers and lecture. Truly inspirational you will not regret this class.
Oscar is amazing!!! He is so caring and passionate about education, and it shows in the way that he conducts his class. He ends lectures by saying "I love yall" every time.
Really had fun with the le away he gave in the cajita project. Ive never had a professor who cares so much about the students well being academically, but also emotionally and pushes self care. Caring and all around a good person. Very funny and also gives a different perspective on social deviance. Very knowledgeable about the subject, and critical about the system of capitalism we live in today. 2 quizzes, 2 short papers, 1 final paper and 1 presentation. All cumulative and lets you research what you want. I LOVED THIS CLASSS!!!
By far the best class I have taken at UCSB. Genuinely cares about students success and really wants students to be successful in his class. The coolest professor at UCSB by far. His Gauchospace is very artsy and animated, unlike anything I have ever seen in my three years here. Very accessible outside his office hours. Allows you to research anything you are interested in, but has to be relevant to class material. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR! Will definitely take his SOC170 class!
Professor Soto is one of the most caring professors at UCSB. Always willing to help with projects inside and outside of class. Lectures were engaging and he used UNIQUE videos to supplement his wonderful teaching style. I would highly recommend this professor . Gives three papers, one presentation, one final all commutative. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
