Took this class online in the spring. He's a great lecturer and he's a neuroscientist, so he is extremely intelligent and offers a neurobiological approach to the content. HW for each chapter and two exams which weren't bad at all. Content can be substantial but definitely manageable. Lectures were posted online in addition to twice weekly OH.

Grafton is the best psych professor I've had at UCSB. He's so intelligent, so funny, and so professional. I enjoyed his class and his neurobiological approach to cognitive neuroscience. The class is definitely challenging but he is lenient with dropping test points and iclickers give a nice boost. If you put in some work you'll be fine.

iClicker (5%) and online hw (15%) are easy. Midterm (35%) and final (45%) both tough and only curved 3-4%. He can teach, but you must attend to make sense of his mostly visual lectures. TONS of brain anatomy, so be ready to memorize a lot of cortex areas and their functions. Book helped me study, but goes into way more detail than exams require.

Dr Grafton is a neurologist and teaches like one. You'll learn anatomy through case studies of brain injuries as if you're examining patients. The slides have everything you need but it's important that you attend lecture to actually understand since figures are difficult to interpret without context. Work to understand, not to regurgitate.

I've only taken the midterm for this class as of now but I can tell that the final is about to be either the same or an amplified level of difficulty. Two or three words at the bottom of a slide ended up being four questions on the midterm. He said you don't have to read the book to do well in the class but that is a damn lie.
