Left this course feeling knowledgeable about SF. Good lectures, but she does go on tangents (often based on her research/ocean/climate-related). She is worried about the use of AI more than other profs I have had, and the assignments reflect that which can be limiting. Read, and go to lecture, as the in-class writings will test lecture knowledge.

She's very kind and genuinely wants her students to succeed in her class. The class consisted of 2 take-home exams and a 7-page final paper. It was an easy class to take; I enjoyed all of the readings she selected to study this quarter. Even if you are not an English major, this is a great class to take because the course material is so interesting

This class is sooo easy, especially if you already like creative reading & writing! Dr. Jue has such interesting stories, its hard to not enjoy them. 2-4 short stories per week and theres 2 short response exams and a 6 page final essay.

prof jue was the best! she really cares about the subject and her students. attending lecture in person was optional (live on zoom or recorded on GS) and section was on zoom as well. super accommodating after going back to in-person school! content of class and the readings are genuinely interesting so it's not difficult to get a good grade!

Prof Jue was a wonderful lecturer and navigated the course readings really well. She encouraged discussion on interesting and abstract topics related to the readings. She was genuinely interested on hearing student perspectives, and was flexible with the online format. I would definitely recommend this honors seminar to others!

Fantastic professor and very reasonable grader. I loved this class and if you put in the effort you should be able to get the grade you're looking for.

(Taken online during Covid) Amazing professor! Arguably best professor I've had from the English dept. She chooses such interesting stories and has a very fair and clear syllabus. She made the readings accessible by including PDFs. Loved this class and the content.

I took this class online due to COVID-19, and she was so understanding and caring enough to make this class as easy as possible. She made up a new syllabus and got rid of books, so we'd only have to do some online readings. She also kept lectures extremely short yet engaging. I'm taking her again next quarter because of this! Highly recommend.

Just to be up front, I took her class during the Spring 2020 quarantine, however even with the minimal time to plan for the class's format, it was fair, interesting and even enjoyable. She clearly cares deeply for her students as people and as scholars. The readings were delightful and her insight into them was meaningful. Her class was a delight.

Excellent professor: she is very knowledgeable on SF. If you read fast take this class. its very interesting. However, she requires you to read a lot, 6 novels. her TA's are very knowledgeable as well. Solid choice.

Professor Jues courses are very easy but give yourself time to read as she assigns 5 pretty lengthy novels. Amazing and helpful in office hours and only assigns three short papers. Very knowledgeable in her field and seems to really enjoy what she teaches! Definitely recommend!

she ask you to read 6 novels all heavy content. Each book350 pages, as been said, very heavy reading. + 2 essays: no chance to revise it. the grade that you get the fist time is the grade you keep. + quizzes + a final. If you are an a math major or other major that requires your time then WARNING:DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. HER lectures are boring.
