Liz had very organized lecture slides and clearly explained the concepts. She also provided examples with interesting videos/facts. To ensure that students were understanding the material, she had i clicker quizzes (used only for attendance) and a forum for questions. There were 5+ assignments. The only "bad" thing was that she was repetitive.
very average class. easy enough if you need it for a GE. lot of info but it's a lot of common sense and not hard to memorize. would not recommend to take it if u don't need the ge or for the major. kind of boring and dull. Nice lady tho. oh and clicker attendance sadly. posts what she goes over in class online
Prof. Chrastil read off the lecture slides most of the time, so it wasn't hard to keep up. Lectures were pointless aside from iClicker points. Assignments are straightforward. The midterms and final are questions are taken from the lecture slides, so as long as you study those you'll be fine. Interesting class, easy GE or pre-major requirement.
Chrastil was a solid professor, everything can be memorized from online slides so if you study them you should do great in the class. Other than the multiple-choice midterm and final, there were small every-other week assignments that were simple and easy. Also the geog pool studies is a really easy way to get extra credit in an already easy class.
She takes way too fast and its so hard to keep up. There are a lot of graphs and charts that are important that she talks about in class that end up being on the exams. The assignments take forever to finish. Lecture ppt are posted on gauchospace, but Iclicker is used a lot during class. Make sure to study the iclicker questions.
not an awful class, pretty interesting overall but lots of memorization and the midterms and finals were difficult compared to the rest of the class
Reads directly from her very unspecific lectures, doesn't elaborate much. She asks iClicker questions that make you feel confident for the tests - as if they are all common sense and simple knowledge from paying attention to the lecture but then the tests alter these questions into straight confusion. Did not have a fun quarter.
Chrastil lectures very fast but her lectures were always online before the actual lecture, so I just copied down the slides and added additional info as she talked. There were two midterms worth 150 points each, and a final that counts for 200 points. The sections were optional since attendance was taken in lecture with iClicker. Was pretty nice.
Some people are not meant to be teachers and Liz is one of them.
I have experienced my fair share of professors with poor lecturing abilities, however, Liz takes the win here, by a land slide. She goes through PowerPoints at hyperspeed and doesnt give any time to write. There is a midterm, daily iclicker quizzes, two 1 min presentations, 4 labs, 1 large presentation and a final I HIGHLY advise against Chrastil
