Dr. Penton was a great teacher. She was thorough and clear. The work definitely piles up in the quarter system and I had a really hard time keeping up with lecture material after the one midterm that we had. Overall, the class is tough for 3 units and needs a lot of work outside of lecture but its manageable if you put your all into it.

Class is graded 40% Midterm 60% final. Test questions aren't exactly the same as she lectures. Material is pretty difficult to wrap your head around and sooo much memorizing. Fall asleep in half the classes because she teaches like her students are neuroscientists and every word has about 15 letters in it.

The book is optional, but I would recommend it. Attendance is not required, but since the class is lecture based, you're better off not skipping. She posts lecture slides online as well as a weekly study guide, which is nice because the only grades are the midterm and final. Knowledgeable, but the class is hard and not super engaging
