Dr. MacArthur is one of the best professors on campus!! A caring instructor who wants her students to understand the material and do well in the class. Went to her office hours &she helped me organize my ideas for final paper and even gave constructive feedback. Very accessible outside of class; even agreed to meet me at the Arbor for office hours!

Professor's lectures are almost pointless since she reads off the slides and then posts them on GS. I didn't do any of the readings and still managed to get decent grades on the papers. Final was 50 multiple choice questions and an essay, fairly easy. Worth it for all the GE credits if you get a good TA.

Watch out, she is not clear about grading and you can be surprised by failing the course without warning for a trivial matter. She surprises you with your grade at the end of the course.

She goes really fast for lecture, not really easy to follow along on paper but at least she posts slides online. Really boring lectures, but at least she's through.

To be honest I don't really have much to say about Macarthur. Her lectures are thorough and cover the material you need to focus on in order to perform well on quizzes. That said, I really enjoyed the class purely because of the subject and the structure. A quiz or paper every week sounds rough but it's actually a really appropriate set-up. Fun!

I don't like reading, but I loved this class. We had a quiz or paper due each week which really helped focus the course and keep me engaged. Her lectures directly taught the plot of the text and then its "meaning" or significance, so you didn't have to stress out analyzing it for yourself but still will leave with a good understanding.

This class isn't hard, she's just a really strict professor and has terrible policies: no laptops in lecture, doesn't post slides online, attendance is mandatory. As long as you do the reading you will do well but she overall is just annoying to deal with.

Mandatory attendance, no slides posted on Gauchospace. hand-writing notes required, no electronics, boring lecture (except you are really interested in literature)... The class is not difficult but just so boring. If you see this comment, RUN!

contents are really boring, too fast to take note and no slides on gauchospace, worst course I've taken here.

Quiz or Paper every week. Quizzes were harder than needed to be. Lectured way too fast that you couldn't write everything down and didn't allow laptops. Pretty boring class and attendance taken every lecture.

3 short papers, 4 quizzes. Fairly easy as long as you showed up and took notes. She moves REALLY fast in her lectures though (I also had her in a 9 week quarter). TAs were fair graders. I didn't do the readings and did pretty well in the class. Perhaps the closest thing I've gotten to an "easy GE"
