She now teaches at Oxford College of Emory University. She is a very nice person and cares about her students. That being said, a lot of us were confused on assignments as directions were kind of vague. People were bored in her class and sometimes it seemed kind of pointless. She cares about her students but you have to put in the work on papers.

Elion's class is the best writing class I have took so far in UCSB. She is best on what she does and a great professor over all, She really takes time in giving feedback and make sure that each and every student is on top of her syllabus. Take advantage of her feedbacks. If she is teaching a class, take it and you will breeze through the class!

Elion is a very nice & genuine professor! She makes sure to give good feedback & advice on your writing and even gives the chance to revise them for a better grade. You will do fine in her class if you keep up with her syllabus calendar, participate, and take advantage of revisions.

Really genuinely cares about her students. I hate writing but she gave me good feedback and helped me to become a more confident writer. Tries to make her classes engaging and always makes jokes. Brought candy to us on halloween. Rare to find a teacher in college who cares as much about her students as she does. Highly recommended.

She is very clear by what she wants. Very fun and collaborative class. Just follow the instructions of the syllabus and participate in class and you will do well.

I took Elion for a Public Discourse writing class and it was one of the most interesting clases I have ever taken. She does not lecture at you, instead she gets the entire class in on a discussion and there are plenty of opportunities to express yourself in this class. Her expectations for papers are very clear so passing with an A or B is not hard

Professor Elion is a new professor at UCSB, and she is absolutely amazing! Class time is an opportunity to let your voice be heard on a wide variety of social issues that are relevant to modern issues. Not only does she allow revisions on the 3 main writing assignments to improve your writing skills, but you can also improve your grade by revising!
