CLASSICS36 . 5 Years Ago

Replaced a professor in the middle of the quarter and made the class a lot harder than it was supposed to be.

What sucks is she is very cool but the way the class is graded took me by surprise. Its a classics class so I expected to read a lot but the interpretation is what ramped the difficulty up way too much. The grading is very nit picky without warning, if you want an A get ready to live, eat, breathe Roman historians.

Probably the worst part about this class is the guy who clears his throat obnoxiously loud every 30-90 seconds. The best lectures were the ones where he wasn't there. Take some cough medicine dude. Teacher is bad too. Grades harder than any English professor

Way too pedantic with midterm grading. You have to answer EXACTLY how she wants it, but the kicker is she doesn't tell you what that is. Gave vague essay prompts, then proceeded to complain about people giving vague answers. No feedback, but questioned if you knew material, which is bad teaching. Emperors and Gladiators has been very disappointing

This woman will give you over 100 pages of reading per lecture. That is over 200 pages a week, and I am not including the supplemental reading. She says, "I know not everyone is a Classics major." And they proceeds to teach as if we have Plato memorized. If you daydream in class for 5 minutes, you will be lost when you tune back in.
