This class had SUPER interesting and extensive material, despite Travers lecture being dry sometimes. In class reading Qs were easy. The final paper was a fun way to be creative and express individuality. However one of the TWO midterms had the most arbitrary items on it that we barely went over in class, as if to purposely be a challenge.
Super tough grader, when she makes mistakes herself. Will literally take off points for going 50 words over the arbitrary word count. News flash: all arguments are not the same and require different lengths. Faux-nice. Takes herself too seriously. Has spent too much time in academia and needs to understand this isnt grad school.
Professor Travers is nice and approachable, but she is on the tougher side. For example, she marked me off an assignment for going over the word count. There is no final exam, but the final paper was ridiculous. I had never had a professor be so vague, yet so specific at the same time. Do not recommend unless you have to take this class.
I had her during my freshman year. She is always helpful so go to her office hour. Her lecture is always clear but also heavy. You don't need to do a lot of reading or homework(which is good). However her tests are pretty hard. But if you study hard you will definitely get an A. Her papers are tough so go to her office hour for help.
