DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. There's no structure to this class. He has lectures that have no relevance to the course. Quizzes are every week and they're every single week. They're mostly on reading but there's is way too much reading to keep up with. He explains the group project in person and never creates documents outlining what to do.

This class has 0 structure. There is an assignment and quiz every week (even finals week) and they're worth %50 percent of your overall grade. Worst class ever.

I feel as though the class could have been really cool but there was no structure to the class what so ever. Seemed as though he created his lecture power points a couple hours before class. He assigns WAY too many pages per week (tf we have other classes) and not a clear grader. Probably assign grades depending on how he feels about you

One of the worst classes I have taken at UCSB. There is no structure in the course. He knows what he is talking about and I can tell he is passionate about these topics but he just is not a good lecturer.

He assigns a ridiculous amount of reading that is impossible to keep up with & goes over a huge amount of material. However, the class works on group study guides on google docs for the tests to work on so STUDY THAT REALLY HARD & you'll be fine. He's SO passionate about the subject and really funny & a great teacher. Jazz concerts outside of class

- George is really into the subject which makes the class even more interesting - Makes jokes here and there during class that are actually funny - Very good swing dancer! - Test are hard as hell though, you need to know specifics such as quotes and connecting a musician to an era - Understand the readings cause you will be tested on them.
