He would go off track a lot and would waste my time. The TA was chill and very helpful, I feel like even she know some of his tactics were unfair. For example he would give us very little time for our exam. Even if we started late as a class, we would still have to turn it in by the end of the lecture time and loose a good chunk of writing time.

Best class and professor I've had at ucsb. Very inspiring lectures, super kind man who just wants the best for his students, and wants them to get the most out of the class. Genuinely changed my perspective on how I look at life. He also taught poetry very well, breaking down John Keats so it was easy/relatable for everyone to understand.

Best professor ever. He truly cares about his students and the class as a whole. I got to read some of the most beautiful poetry and most interesting novels I've ever read while I was taking this course. I didn't need this class for my major but I have absolutely no regrets. Duffy genuinely changed my life perspective.

Most amazing prof I have ever had. Took him for Irish lit & later the Ulysses senior seminar, would take him a million more times if I could. Inspiring, great sense of humor, and incredibly passionate. Makes every class worth going to.

Best professor I've ever had. Made class interesting, cared a lot of about his students and the material. Hilarious in class and the extra credit opportunity is very fun. Ulysses is a tough read and quite boring if you can't get into it so beware of that.

Professor Duffy is among the best professors at UCSB. He is intelligent, genuine, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. However, most of this will mean nothing to you if you don't share his passion and interest. Getting an A is really just about reading and paying attention. An essential experience for UCSB students who love literature.
