I loved Eric and he is such a smart person. I think he did a great job of conveying material that Sears had prepared. Yes, most of his lectures aren't tested on, but it really helps you understand the reason why you're doing the calculations you learn in section. Go to his office hours, it's so helpful to learn how to do the problems. He's great.
Erics a great lecturer but Sears slides suck. Lots of info covered in class but the most relevant info comes from section. Open note tests were VERY conceptual, but similar to the practice tests he released from summer 2016. You only really needed to know a few concepts for the tests, because a lot of the other info covered was just supplemental.
You will only use information from about 5 different lectures, mainly equations he gives at the end of them on exams. Open book, open note tests, most important material will be your section notes. Eric says everything twice and his lectures are sometimes painful to sit through, but understand section and do NONE of the practice problems he assigns
