Spring 2020, she was super accommodating to online format in light of the pandemic and everything going on. Lecture attendance is optional and 40% of your grade is homework, it is a pretty easy class if you have even a little bit of prior music knowledge.
If you have previous musical knowledge, this class will be a breeze for you. If you don't, the material is fairly easy to learn. The grading format is pretty straightforward. Homework accounts for most your grade (40%), so don't take it lightly. In midst of the pandemic and recent events, Hambleton was generous enough to make the final optional.
W20 The class is straightforward even if you don't have previous music theory knowledge. If you do have previous knowledge, the first 2 weeks should fly by. There's a composition project, it was broken into steps & very doable. She was also very accommodating when COVID-19 started, making the final optional and waiving some of the last assignments.
The class is not the easiest thing in the world but if you try you will do fine. Take the homeowork seriously, it is what moved me from A to A-. Go to office hours it helps a lot. There is a quiz at the start of each lecture all worth three points to count attendance and there is homeowork due every lecture. The composition project is doable
Super easy class if you have musical background. Even if you don't, I think Hambleton and the TAs did a good job of providing additional assistance to those who needed it. Lectures were quite dry and boring, even awkward some days. Not an enjoyable class, but just try to participate. It's only an hour out of your day.
