I liked the structure of her class. She contextualizes the reading assignment from the night before, and then poses questions that generate class discussion about it. Lecture-heavy, but manageable, as she gives an outline of what each test will cover. She comes off as a little condescending at times, but just get your work done. Pretty standard.
Meyers cemented my choice to be an English major. She is incredibly insightful and cares to learn about contemporary opinions regarding the aged works we cover. The midterms and papers are straightforward and we are prepared adequately for them. Don't miss any readings, take good notes and you'll get the A. Best professor for the material!!!
I want to hear the professor lecture to get a better understanding of these older texts. I don't understand why she insists on listening to other students opinions the majority of the class time. I get it, participation matters however we do not pay to hear fellow students' tedious musings. Enjoyed the material, not the professor.
Meyers is young, spirited, funny, and overall an inspirational professor. Her lectures are truly entertaining and they make you WANT to participate(even though you may not usually). EVERYONE should take this specific course by her as well, seriously changed the way I see things, which is rare to say about other courses.
I have taken two courses with Professor Meyers, and although I like her character, I did not enjoy her courses/teaching method. English 101 was lecture heavy and the midterm + final involved key passages that she discussed during her lectures + 2 short essays. Defiantly, be prepared to take notes & show up to class
Exceptional and brilliant lecturer but incredibly information heavy. You'll feel like you're taking a history class half the time, and the readings are as interesting as medieval literature can get. Go to lecture, take good notes, go to office hours for help on the two papers, and you will probably get at least a B+.
